now this is me
Welcome to my project.
She sat in her office space. It was a great office – even though she didn’t have much to compare it to. She felt like an imposter. She knew the students ‘liked’ her – they always had for the most part. She knew she had this ‘thing’ where she felt and believed 100% in their value, worth, potential – it was easy, came naturally, a ‘knowing’…and she knew intuitively that they knew she knew – it was why they responded to her. How could she get them to know? What were the skills? “Did I just miss the class? Was I not paying attention? Were these ‘skills’ taught in a course I didn’t know I was supposed to take?” What are the skills?!?!? What do I teach them?
First teacher, then school social worker. Like many, greatly influenced by big events that have taken place in school settings. Intuitively knowing there has to be another way, a ‘something more’. It didn’t have to get so big. So violent.
The desire to teach skills that get real results and sustainable outcomes became a ‘be careful what you wish for’. I have acquired endless skills, tools, strategies (practices) and my desire is to share them in the most simple and effective way.
Sally’s mission is to create and share ideas that allow children and adults to feel seen, heard, valued, and understood.
