I’m assuming this is not the first post I have titled ‘segment’ – I did add an ‘s’.
Welcome to a Tuesday morning post: segments.
The 2023 blog year was somewhat inconsistent, especially since the new school year began in August. With the beginning of the new school year, I began facilitating checkIN and storyitell to high school students. This has been a personal challenge. Teaching/facilitating is an art that only improves with time and consistency. There is most definitely a vulnerability that comes with the role. Doing it is the only option. And then, keep doing it.
I began a post on Saturday. I begin one most Saturdays. The posts haven’t been landing, which is why I haven’t been posting. One of the drawbacks to increasing one’s experience of day is that one desires to be IN day, doing the things that one enjoys. I do love to blog and create content, but I also love yoga, walks, clean space to live and work in, food, listening to podcasts, etc.
In this post, I will first share what I wrote on Saturday.
Next, I will share the 12.19.2021 post plan. taken from the book abetterway. using inner resources to create your own algorithm. If you are wondering who the author is of abetterway, it is me. abetterway is a compilation of 2021 blogposts that followed a monthly sequence connecting executive function (ie. inner resources) to self care skills, tools, strategies – or in most cases: suggesting ways to think about the skillsets, or inner resources, that might contribute to increased enjoyment in day.
Here we go….
“What do I write about?” she asks herself as she sits in a new, comfy chair looking up at a huge, new monitor, using a ‘magic’ keyboard that sits comfortably on a pillow on her lap. ✅’set’. It’s early morning. She has been up for several hours. The environment is cued: dimly lit with candles and strategic lighting, omming monks streaming through the phone, a new mister that came with an essential oils purchase pumping out the scent of three wise men in the back bedroom. She has all she needs. Nothing is missing. ✅‘setting’. And….GO! Today is Saturday, December 16. Yesterday I considered a new ‘segment’: one week left to close 2023, two weeks to relax and allow ideas and desires to fall into place, and one week to set the motion forward for the new year to come. This new segment is merging into the previous segment that was the 4-week time frame between Thanksgiving Break and Winter Break. The segments are based on my life and what seems to unfold organically. I look at segments of time to focus on desired outcomes. I know in January there will be an 8-week segment connected to the Orange Theory Fitness transformation challenge. The 8-week challenge is what began my segment sharing on @sallysifer Facebook Page. I used the 8-week segment to share checkIN and the storyitell. This fall I began facilitating checkIN and storyitell to high school seniors on track to graduate. More recently I began facilitating checkIN to 9th and 10th grade students. It seems I have entered a time in my life experience where I have nothing to point at as an external condition that is keeping me from what I want. It is clear to me that I have all I want, this includes the recognition that I have a voice to ask, and an ability to google search or use some available method to extract information to support next steps toward any additional desirable outcome. Nothing is missing. But, oh yeah, that opposing force thing: everything is missing. I have what I want, and yet I desire so much more. The continual contradictory nature of a human life experience. I have been trying to consider ways to summarize the 2023 blog year. I began the year playfully using an animal spirit guidebook to create some focus for the 12 months. I recognize an interesting pattern that emerged from my own perspective. More recently over the last few months I have had some interesting interactions with the spider which is what began the year in January 2023.
I’ll keep you hanging on for the summary of the year and the spider 🕸️
