glitch.

Not a bug. A glitch. Temporary.

An impromptu Art Exhibit in the lobby of a 21c museum hotel in Bentonville, Arkansas got me curious about the word glitch. A few days after I was exposed to the Art, I googled glitch. What landed from my brief search: a glitch is temporary, it’s not a bug.

In the June post trip., I shared a video of the Art display. A friend who is familiar with Bentonville suggested I check out the Art in the hotel lobby. I felt a casual obligation to ‘breeze’ through since I was physically in the space he was referring to. Right away, I could recognize that it wasn’t a space to ‘breeze’ through. I also recognized that I was not in a mental  ‘space’ to slow down enough to appreciate the whole of the exhibit as I recognized that the Art was throughout the entire lobby of the hotel – as well as intriguing sculptures and pieces outside. I was super hungry and the original impetus that had me inside the hotel was his suggestion to eat at the hotel restaurant – which appeared to be in transition and not necessarily open to serve lunch, and I wasn’t in cocktail mode (it was sometime around 2pm).

The uniqueness of what was happening around me quickly materialized, and I wanted to experience it – even if only for a short time. I found what was perhaps the ‘beginning’ of the exhibit that shared an overall picture. I need context…always. Here is what it said (read below: Still, Life!) –

After receiving the news the second time, I paced my kitchen floor and questioned the silence, ‘what do we do?’ The answer I received was ‘Life. Sell life.’

— Sally Seiffer, The Story I Tell

Life. The story I tell. Is it one of mostly fear or possibility?

“Glitch is something that extends beyond the most literal technological mechanics: it helps us to celebrate failure as a generative force, a new way to take on the world.”

“Under the persistent conditions of confusion and uncertainty, might embracing fragmentation offer a new understanding of ourselves and our world?”

Jonathan Rosen, I WANT, 2020

“Despite the current overwhelming crisis, hope permeates this portrait/world with renewal and the healing powers of life…”

And meanwhile, here is what showed up @sallysifer this past week…
