…the difference between talent and genius: the talented person aims at a target that anyone can see and hits it, a genius aims at a target no one can see, and hits it.

You are in a dark room. You have a flashlight. The flashlight can represent your focus. Reflection Question #1: Consider the many thoughts, ideas, and memories you could focus on within your mind space. One could also use the word ‘spotlight’. The same concept of focus can be external in the physical space with the light on. Consider the many objects, shapes, and colors one can focus on. The practice here is to notice what it means to focus. Can you consider the absence of focus? It would be maddening. Another practice could be to imagine capturing a thought or idea, or ‘lasso’ one’s focus. The social-emotional curriculum goZen! by Renee Jain has an image of a net to capture a thought. This image is used to be curious about distorted thinking patterns. When one becomes the noticer of one’s thoughts, life can feel a bit more relevant as far as feeling a sense of control over feelings, urges, and outcomes.

Reflective Question #2: Consider the different modes or roles you play specific to those mentioned in Minecraft – creative, survival, adventure, spectator, hardcore.

idea💡: use the format taken from roles in storyitell. Create five sections. Brainstorm how you either show up in each mode/role, or how you would like to show up in each mode/role. Perhaps the roles would take up space as to how much time you feel is reasonable to be in each role. For example, creative/to create may be how you want to show up most of the time. What would this look like, feel like, sound like?

And lastly, Reflective Question #3: What are you pulled toward?
