I began this post last weekend. At this time, I cannot remember why I chose the title. A lot has happened this past week. It is difficult to conjure up context as to how I was interpreting Ellen Langer and Jeff Krasno.
(actually…is it true? is a reflection of Ellen Langer’s research suggesting that all science is probability and it’s what you believe that makes something true. And…she refers to herself as a scientist)
Speaking of context, let’s recenter with some…context.
First off, I chose to theme the 2025 blog year in a loving mimicry of Tim Ferriss’s 5-Bullet Friday newsletter. Tim is quite concise. I like him as a human. I think I know him as a human because of the time I’ve spent listening to his lengthy podcast conversations. This is why I love podcasts. It feels as if I am listening in on intelligent conversations between interesting people who are fully present and unscripted. If they begin scripted, it often doesn’t take long to get to the core of two people simply discussing a particular topic of interest. I love learning the background and story as to how things came to be. One example of this is connected to the design of my blog and new title, which is in loving mimicry of Seth Godin. On one podcast listen (I honestly can’t remember, I think it was Tim and Seth’s conversation), I learned about the beginning of blogs and the early years in the blogsphere. Notice both Seth and Tim have sites named tim.blog and seths.blog. I think James Clear began as a blog in the early days as well (author of Atomic Habits). Seth’s blog is so clean. He’s the one who says, ‘What do bloggers do?…they blog.’ He blogs every day. The one thing I love about Tim is he seems so honest and openly a bit bored at times looking for his next big thing. In truth, I haven’t been listening to him for a bit. This happens, I get into certain listens and move back and forth between several shows. I find that I tend to travel in a particular algorithm. I follow for the most part based on the guest…so I suppose I follow the circuit the guest is on.
Ellen Langer would be a recent example of following a guest circuit. I only know two shows she was on that I follow: Rich Roll and Andrew Huberman. I like to be curious about the interconnected web of life. Ellen is a psychologist at Harvard, and Andrew is a neuroscientist and professor at Stanford. Rich graduated from Stanford. I assume Andrew and Rich are also investors. Tim is an investor. I don’t know if I have it correct, I just love to connect dots out of my own curiosity and interest.
I learned about Ellen Langer when I got interested in facilitating mindfulness to others. I found the onbeing episode below. Ellen Langer began studying mindfulness by initially studying mindlessness. To me, what is so cool about Ellen is that (according to Rich) she has the most popular Psychology course at Harvard. Adam Grant was her student. Oh, and she’s 77 years old.
This next episode is from 2025. If you love it, you can find another conversation in 2024 which Rich said was perhaps his most popular show of 2024.
Next up is Andre and Jeff Krasno.
Interestingly enough, I am influenced by Rich’s partner, Julie Piatt; as well as Jeff’s partner, Schuyler Grant. Rich has at least three interviews with Julie, probably more. Each time I listen I am newly inspired into being fully feminine…and somehow fully integrated. I am currently enrolled in Schuyler’s 25 hour Yoga course Form and Flow.
I joined the onecommune app last June when I decided I needed to prepare for the Yoga Teacher Training I participated in last fall. I didn’t pay much attention to Jeff. I really enjoyed listening to his story and the context to his book, Good Stress.
And now for a bit more context…I have committed to listening through each podcast share at least twice prior to posting. I also take notes, mostly for my own interests and to stay focused.
This post is rambly. Thanks for getting here if you happened to keep reading. Enjoy the shows.
