a better way. week five

The infinite potential of pure awareness.

When I walk in to an 8th grade Science classroom, I’m interested in hearing what they are learning in Physics. I did not take Physics. Ever. It was offered as an elective in 12th grade (if I remember correctly), and you had to be ‘approved’ to be in the class. Whatever that meant.

Last week, students were talking about the difference between Potential Energy and Kinetic Energy. The simple way to understand the difference between the two was in movement. The potential energy had to be applied in order for it to do something. For example, one could draw a bow and arrow back, but for the intended outcome to occur it had to be let go of. This example lends itself to ask the question: what if the one applying the force does not have a target or intended purpose as to where the arrow lands?

There’s much I don’t know about the laws of Physics. However, in my experience of flipping my own energy of dullness and despair (depression), into the energy of possibility, it was learning and applying the basics of how energy works that flip-flopped the momentum.

Considering that emotion is energy-in-motion, it seems that the laws that apply to how things in the physical world work, would pertain to how things work in the nonphysical world as well.

One of the most exciting things about the energy of pure potential is that it is nondiscriminate.

Thoughts in pure consciousness are ripples in the Quantum.

To me, the Quantum Field is what exists when one closes their eyes and doesn’t move. Stillness. Where we came from and where we return to. I don’t think this is a religious argument. I think understanding how energy works can complement religion and various other explanations as to how things work.

Thoughts ripple.

What would be the difference between inclusive thoughts of what is possible, as compared to exclusive thoughts that fear what is possible? Do the ripples effect one’s experience of life in what is considered real time?

What if the storyitell about potential is connected to somethingmore that leads to abetterway?

Today’s excerpt is the first of four pertaining to Working Memory. For me, it’s difficult to understand Working Memory independent of other skills like initiation and planning. Initiation would be one’s desire to get started on an intended outcome. Working Memory would then be accessed to use what one already knows, rather than starting from the very beginning (that would not be a functional way to exist). And then the knowledge has to be applied toward a desired outcome. People that have difficulty with storing useful information and applying it in a helpful way, may benefit from talking to themselves out loud to activate what they know. I talk to myself regularly as it brings clarity to next steps that are most helpful.

When we move through life at a quick pace, it can be difficult to access information in a way that is meaningful and leads to sustainable growth outcomes. Situations can become repetitive, and talking about what’s wrong becomes familiar. This could be because one hasn’t slowed down to tap in to their authentic self that desires to return to understanding the why behind ‘the movement’. Unexamined movement, or Kinetic energy, can feel like arrows going in every direction all at once, and never achieving a desired outcome that is sustainable and can build on itself.

Let’s use this last segment for the reflection:

  1. What picture do the words curious, constructive, productive, sustainable, growth, possibility paint?
  2. What picture do the opposite words paint: disinterested, destructive, unproductive, dying, stagnant, impossible?
  3. Which set of words does the picture of your life paint? (the story I tell)
  4. What picture do you want to paint?
  5. How much is in your control?
  6. Do your thoughts and the story you tell ripple? If so, who benefits from the story you tell?
