Happy slightly past the middle of July.
It’s catch-up Book Club season, and today’s excerpt from abetterway was originally published June 26, 2021.
Next summer (2025), I anticipate taking a blogging hiatus in June and July. I seem to have taken a hiatus this summer, just not intentionally.
It doesn’t feel good to be ‘behind’ and need to ‘catch up’. Life keeps moving forward.
In a previous catch-up post, I mentioned it was a summer of learning for me. I specifically mentioned three relevant and familiar parts of my life that were screaming for attention: learning how to learn, nutrition, and yoga. It’s true that knowing what to focus on, and why, can create immediate shifts and satisfying results. For me, it’s a journey.
**I did a short training/experience yesterday with a social-emotional curriculum where I was the student. The facilitator initiated the what and the why.
**‘Journey’ popped up in something I am reading, and is why I chose the word rather than process. I’m trying it out 🙂
Reflection:
- Can you intentionally create feeling states in your body? If so, how do you do this? Why would you do this?
- Can you differentiate between an open feeling state and a closed feeling state? If it’s helpful, practice noticing the feeling state by using the parts of your nervous system: mind, heart, belly, muscles, skin. Objectively name what you feel: tight, loose, free, captive, fast, slow, open, closed, etc.
- What does the feeling state of possibility feel like? Are you open to being curious about this state? Can you be open to a practice of intentionally cultivating a preferred feeling state? (my favorite is possibility, that’s why I use it often as an example) Why would this be helpful?
