a better way. week eleven

In the event that you (reader) pay attention to particulars, I titled last Sunday’s book club post week eleven, then changed it to week ten. Today’s post is the official week eleven (wink).

I’m certain I have mentioned it, but I suppose I find it fulfilling to mention it once again: each excerpt from abetterway includes a @sallysifer Instagram post with a quote from the week’s blog. It was all created in 2021. I appreciate 2021Sally‘s consistency.

I also find it fulfilling to share this YouTube video that captures the 2021 year of quotes, along with neighbor’s background ‘jam’. There are a lot of Smoosh captures…worth the watch.

I just finished the quote video. As soon as it played, the next video started up. The fresh video was Bradley Cooper interviewing Emma Stone. Right away, Emma was laughing at Bradley and asked ‘why are your eyes closed?’ He responded, ‘I’ve noticed I can think more clearly when my eyes are closed.’ She said he should stop.

I do that too – close my eyes and talk at the same time. I get tripped up when I listen to suggestions about making eye contact when one is presenting to an audience. I am thinking about what I am saying and if/when I make eye contact, I feel like I lose the connection to my authentic voice. This is a confusing habit.

And now. I am. Fulfilled.

In this excerpt, I take Stephen Covey’s first three habits (of the 7 habits of highly effective people) and integrate them with executive functions. I also make a connection to the formula of life coaches, or authors such as James Clear Atomic Habits, that study successful people and share the underlying formula/patterns of behavior.

Another approach could be doing the opposite of what you do when life feels stuck and spinning in the same undesirable outcome.

Sounds so easy…

Reflection Questions:

  1. Do you take time to create desired outcomes? What is the last thing you pushed against, or were ‘at odds’ with? What is the opposite of it? Can you create or imagine more of that outcome? Why would you do this? Does it change the energy vibration within you from lack to fulfillment? Is that a good thing?
  2. List a few things you are better at today than you were three years ago? For me, three years ago is easy to recall due to it being 2021, but also because I captured it in abetterway 🙂
  3. Is there a brand you are obsessed with? What is it about the brand? I am obsessed with Wax Crescent candles. It has a one woman owner. She does everything. I drove to Source Hotel yesterday in Denver to purchase candles. I wanted to buy all of them. I want that to happen to day.llc. I consider that to be the authentic algorithm. Living authentically, one thing leading to the next thing. It being okay to close your eyes to align with truth, and then do the next thing.

This last image is of the simple entry into Surf Hotel in Buena Vista, Colorado. It makes me consider returning to BV this coming Tuesday for a three year anniversary of 3/19/21. I am aware of a new ‘inn’ in BV that appears to be quite appealing. Such is life, three years ago there was ‘nothing better’ than Surf Hotel. Continuous growth.
