Today is Wednesday, June 26. The original date to post was last Thursday, June 20, 2024.
June 20, 2024 would have been four years since the original date of this excerpt from Something More. Connecting to the pulse of a Shared Humanity…by me.
These June excerpts remind me of the ‘tone’ four years ago. The overarching ‘tone’ pointed a finger at politics. To point a finger at one category of life is too easy. To point a finger, or place blame, at anything is too easy.
I like what Phil Stutz suggests as a helpful way to look at one’s existence. He says there are three constants that all humans must come to terms with: pain, uncertainty, and work (effort). In other words, to live is to recognize that there will be pain, uncertainty, and constant work. I add that once one comes to terms with this, one can recognize that all things vary in level of intensity, duration, and frequency.
The flipside of this is to tell a story that includes an assumption that life was meant to be free of pain, uncertainty, and effort/work. When this is the belief, one points a finger at the cause of the discomfort and assumes blame. The finger may be pointed at one’s self which can weave a tale of despair. The finger pointed outward can weave a tale of hatred and disconnection. Neither of these tales allow for what is possible.
I only have my own life to live and my own mind to consider, and to change as often as necessary.
For today’s post, read trance and consider what it means to you.
